La Trobe University’s Living History project celebrates the diverse stories of our students, alumni, staff and supporters over the past 50 years. Throughout 2017 we will continue to share these stories – so be sure to keep an eye on this page for more videos.

Andrew Abercrombie is a leading Australian entrepreneur and renowned advocate of corporate philanthropy. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1976.

Jacinta Allan

Hon Jacinta Allan MP is currently Minister for Public Transport and Minister for Major Projects in the Victorian Government. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University in Bendigo, and is a member of the Class of 1995.

Julie Andrews

Dr Julie Andrews is a Lecturer of Aboriginal Studies and Anthropology at La Trobe University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1992.

Jeff Brownrigg

Professor Jeff Brownrigg is one of Australia’s foremost exponents of Australia’s sound and culture. Currently, he teaches Museum Studies and also Cultural Heritage Interpretation at the University of Canberra. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from La Trobe University, and is a member of the Class of 1970.

Eddie Custovic

Dr Eddie Custovic is an academic and industry project manager in the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at La Trobe University. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 2007.

John Dewar

Professor John Dewar is Vice-Chancellor and President of La Trobe University, a position he has held since 2012.

Maree Edwards

Maree Edwards is the elected Member for Bendigo West representing the Australian Labor Party. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 2000.

Ahmed Fahour

Ahmed Fahour AO is currently the Managing Director and CEO at Australia Post. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1987.

James Fazzino

James Fazzino is Managing Director and CEO at Incitec Pivot Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1986.

Helen Fazzino

Helen Fazzino is Managing Partner, People, Partnerships and Culture at PwC. She holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1987.

Gordon Franklin

Gordon Franklin is La Trobe University’s oldest Indigenous graduate. He holds a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 2016.

Sarah Fregon

Sarah Fregon is the CEO of the Victorian Bar. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Legal Studies from La Trobe and is a member of the Class of 1994.

Michelle Gallaher

Michelle Gallaher is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of The Social Science. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from La Trobe, and is a member is the Class of 1989.

Jane Gazzo

Jane Gazzo is a radio presenter at Triple M – Southern Cross Austereo. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1994.

Jamila Gordon

Jamila Gordon is a Director and Global Chief Information Officer at GetSwift Limited. She holds a Bachelor of Business (Information Technology) from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1995.

Samantha Grover

Dr Samantha Grover is a soil scientist and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Life Sciences at La Trobe University. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Science from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 2007.

Matthew Guy

Hon Matthew Guy MP is the leader of the Victorian Liberal Party. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1995.

Bronwyn Halfpenny

Bronwyn Halfpenny MP is the Member for Thomastown in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. She holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1987.

John Higgs

John Higgs OAM is the President of the Board of Bendigo Art Gallery. He is an alumnus of Bendigo Teachers’ College, and is a member of the Class of 1967.

Bill Kelty

Bill Kelty AC has had a long career in the union movement as a board member of several private and public companies. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1967.

John Mckenzie

John McKenzie AM, FAA was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 2011 in recognition of his service to higher education through administrative roles to professional associations and to the community. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and PhD in Genetics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1969.

Meg Morris

Professor Meg Morris is a Professor in Clinical & Rehabilitation Practice. She holds a PhD in Public Health from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1996.

Susan Pelka

Susan Pelka is an Independent Board Director at Emergency Services State Superannuation Board. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1975.

Deborah Radford

Deborah Radford is a Non-Executive Director and a Council Member at La Trobe University. She holds a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1976.

Tony Radford

Dr Tony Radford AO has built a career in biotechnology, holding executive roles in the management of commercial research and development in the medical field. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a PhD in Biological Sciences from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1979.

John Richards

John Richards OAM is a major donor and former jackaroo, soldier and farmer. Mr Richards’s benefaction has led to the establishment of the John Richards Initiative in Aged Care in Rural and Regional Communities at the Albury-Wodonga Campus. He was awarded an Honorary Degree from La Trobe in 2015.

Brittany Romas

Brittany Romas is currently studying physiotherapy at La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus. She is also a La Trobe student ambassador.

Radek Sali

Radek Sali is the former CEO at Swisse Wellness Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Cinema Studies) from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1997.

Jennifer Seberry

Emeritus Professor Jennifer Seberry is known as a pioneer in mathematics, cryptology and computer science. She was the first woman and first mathematician to complete a PhD at La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1969.

Rob Stephenson

Rob Stephenson is the Head of Bendigo Campus, La Trobe University. He holds a Bachelor of Business from La Trobe, and is a member of the Class of 1984.

Olga Tennison

Olga Tennison is a major benefactor of The Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC) at La Trobe, named in her honour. She remains connected to the University and continues to provide generous financial support.

Patricia Woolley

Dr Patricia Woolley is an Emeritus Scholar at La Trobe University. Patricia was the first Zoologist appointed at La Trobe, and has been involved with the University since 1967.

Khatijah Yusoff

Professor Yusoff is a highly distinguished microbiologist. She holds a PhD in Microbiology and has received an honorary Doctor of Science. She is a member of the Class of 1984.
